Virtual Villagers 2 – The Lost Children: Stew Recipes
Found at the top right corner of your map, next to the dry grass. | Just to the right of the statue on the north end. | Right above the burial ground, northeast. |
Lower end of the burial ground. | Right side of the mosaic (or puddle) | Smack south end of the map. |
Bear in mind that these aren’t ALL of the combinations, but there are only 16 effects. There are lots of recipes that would make your villagers healthier, and there are also lots that are inedible. I’m only going to provide one recipe for each effect.

Boy do these recipes make a difference!

May 16, 2007 at 11:05 pm
thanks this will help but you said that there are 16 effects and only gave 15 recipes was that a typo or did you forget one?
chloe
May 21, 2007 at 5:20 pm
The 16th effect is “tastes nasty can’t eat” so I didn’t bother posting it. It’s basically the default for a combination that doesn’t do anything.
Sally
May 21, 2007 at 11:47 pm
That helps a lot, seeing as there are 216 possible stew combinations =/
Much Thanks!

May 23, 2007 at 8:37 am
Hey Frontside_Dave: Read much? It says, “there are only 16 effects.” so the point of listing all the combinations would be?
Elle
May 23, 2007 at 10:20 am
the highest stews found is 18 i have found 17 but can’t find the last help have had 6 villagers get herbs finally got one tried with master doctor to get all herbs is there a clue to the herbs?
kelly fugate
May 26, 2007 at 2:57 pm
to Elle: Read his comment again. Does he imply that all the combinations are needed? No, the part about combinations means “there are so many possible combinations that giving an example combination of every effect is very useful”. And for that he says thanks.
Check your comprehension before you start bashing!

Excellent list, thank you. (and much cred to Tiki for a good response!)
Wish I’d known about the full health mixture, I had about 4 children die before age 6 from lack of food which was kinda sad. I never even got to see them alive! Just game back after a day at work to find several piles of bones… (sniff)
The 5+5+5 one (burst of energy, exercise) can, but only sometimes, lead to an increase in Building skill. I’ve not figured out why it is, most of the time they run around (and swim) like nutters for ages and then just shake their heads.
Two of my builders who I was trying to max up quickly for one of the puzzles steadfastly refused to get this effect, and yet a scientist who had a sneaky taste gained a chunk of building skill even though she’d never lifted a hammer in her life.. Guess it’s just down to luck.
Thanks again for an excellent and comprehensive list. Now if I can just get two or three master builders alive at the same time…

Damage:
Could they get the building skills from the rock lifting they do as part of the exercise routine? Don’t know… just a guess.

June 24, 2007 at 8:06 pm
I think you have to just eat it all 😦
Rachel
June 25, 2007 at 11:32 am
what do you mean by “It burns” ?
[/double post]
Rachel
June 25, 2007 at 1:51 pm
Pause the game, exit, and reload the game. That should mean no stew.
“Very spicy – it burns!” is what the villager “says” when they eat it (I don’t think it doesn anything else)
Sally
June 25, 2007 at 1:56 pm
hehe, i just tried it, i killed a person! :O XD Whoopsie!
Rachel
June 25, 2007 at 5:30 pm

wenn
June 27, 2007 at 2:20 am
anade stew?
Rachel
June 27, 2007 at 10:47 am
I think they meant “another”? heh, i’m guessing, though..
..quick question, “no need to breathe” is what i’m guessing the screen says when they eat that particular stew, but what exactly does it mean? does it help, hinder, or simply feed them?
Shauna
June 27, 2007 at 2:44 pm
*pssst* spoiler: If you don’t need to breathe, you can scuba dive.
Sally
June 27, 2007 at 4:25 pm

July 6, 2007 at 5:40 am
what do you mean by smells sweet does it make the villagers smell sweet or does the stew smell sweet???
aurora
July 21, 2007 at 1:02 pm
the villagers say “it smells sweet” but it doesn’t really do anything…
Sally
July 21, 2007 at 4:03 pm
But my messages are different, when I do thew second combination the message is:
“This stew is nasty,it really isn’t edible”
So I can’t make them swim to get the gong inside the pond, what can I do?
Luna
July 29, 2007 at 7:03 pm
just keep trying the stew it should work eventually
Travis
August 5, 2007 at 11:25 am
did that help you?
cuz it it did im good
Travis
August 5, 2007 at 1:39 pm
did you master all of the herbs because if you didn’t then it wont work
Travis
August 5, 2007 at 1:40 pm
Hey, if i need to get my doctor to ‘master’, how can i do it? he wont keep studying the herbs by himself, and no one is sick… if i used the stew to make people sick, would he be able to heal them?
Jenn
August 5, 2007 at 4:59 pm
If u want a master healer take the 3rd recipe from the top and ur people will get very sick then take a person and make them heal all the sick people
Cory
August 5, 2007 at 5:25 pm
my healer wont gain any more experience… the screen says ‘this villager got better at healing!’ but his bar isnt changing… any ideas?
Jenn
August 5, 2007 at 8:56 pm
so i have finished the game in like a week or so that was better than the first one i think
jacqueline
August 26, 2007 at 10:15 pm

September 7, 2007 at 4:44 pm
Tried more than once to kill off a couple of villagers with the 4+4+5 stew and it made them sick-barely-and that is all.
I spent 15 minutes trying to keep the other do gooder villagers from trying to heal them.
I really needed to get rid of them in order to get some different more productive ones-and I could not.
Finally just ended that game and started again. (couldn’t kill off any in that game either-and NO I am not a warped monster-I just wanted to see if the stew would work in a different game-but it didn’t)
Better luck to someone else

September 12, 2007 at 9:22 pm

September 17, 2007 at 8:04 pm
I don’t seem to be able to convince the villagers that they should pick the plant from the south end of the map. They have mastered all the plants and collect herbs for the stew at any of the other 5 positions, but they just don’t seem to like that one that looks like a poinsettia.
Any suggestions?
erin
September 26, 2007 at 9:20 am
have you cleared the water yet by building a dam? they wont do the red one in the east side of the ruins before you clear it.

October 4, 2007 at 6:48 pm
does the game just go on forever after or do y9ou eventually solve the secret of Isola?
and what are the other stew recipes everyone is mentioning?
kitkat
October 8, 2007 at 1:36 pm
the game does go on forever after you solve the secret.
I have no idea about the other stews…
Sally
October 8, 2007 at 3:40 pm
The stew for breathing does not work. I’ve solved all the puzzle except the piece that I’m told is in the pond. This really frustrates me when there is no solution, Otherwise I really enjoy the game.
Evelyn
October 9, 2007 at 10:16 pm
Where did you get your game? That sounds like a bug, and you can report it to the company that sold you the game. The stew for the breathing works for me.
Sally
October 9, 2007 at 10:36 pm
I ordered my game from the people that made the game. I don’t think they would have put a bug in thier own game. Mine isn’t a download, I have it on a CD.
Evelyn
October 11, 2007 at 12:11 am
The “no breathing” stew works fine. Made out, dived in the pond, got my piece of gong puzzle no problem.
Sonia
October 12, 2007 at 8:20 am
oops…that should be “made IT” not made out lol
Sonia
October 12, 2007 at 8:21 am
Evelyn, bugs aren’t something that you put into the game…they’re just little mistakes that are never caught and sometimes makes it to a retail version of the game, and might need to be patched.
Your best bet is to call / email LDW, give them your game’s version number and see what they say.
Sally
October 12, 2007 at 9:20 am
Are you getting the right combination of herbs for your stew, Evelyn?
Sonia
October 12, 2007 at 10:55 am

CeDiL

Oh, thanks CeDil, but I didn’t mean that piece. I meant the one at the ancient place. I keep putting totems in the middle but nothing happens!

October 29, 2007 at 12:51 pm
Awesome! I just discovered this game last week. It’s really entertaining. I have another question, however. How does one gain builder points if there’s nothing to build?
Katie
October 30, 2007 at 1:48 pm
Katie/ you could inspect buildings I believe.

I cant get any of my villagers to become elders. they all get to be master scientist pretty quick, farmers take longer, but to get master builders take forever. I cant open the crate or get a totem i’ve built all the structures ( 2 huts, the dam, sewing hut, hospital and repaired damaged hut and still only adept buliders. I have made all the stews but no effect on bulding skills. as soon as someone gets close they are too old and die. and how do you get a master doctor or parent?
dizzi
November 10, 2007 at 2:43 pm
dizzi/ I usually only have a few builders at a time – that way I’m sure to have master builders instead of spreading the skill around. I also only have ONE master doctor at a time and one adept for backup.
Just keep healing people with your doctor – basically have a whole lotta farmers for practicing on. Make that “make people sick” stew a lot and have the doctor go around healing.

Areti:
Have you excavated the whole area yet? I don’t remember whether any villager can excavate or whether you need a master at something.

November 11, 2007 at 1:07 am

Mary
November 12, 2007 at 9:12 am
did you get your game off reflexive? They HAD a bug in the game for the longest time (a BETA version was uploaded by LDW by accident) but it was fixed. Email wherever you bought the game and let them know – redownloading it off the site might help, depending on when you got it.
Sally
November 12, 2007 at 6:04 pm
Sally frontside_dave i refuse that there are 216 recipes of stews. If you can prove it I will belive. so give the following recipes of stews.
